Tomas Käyhkö of Finland captured the Amir Cup 2025 title in Doha, Qatar,
taking home the $25,000 top prize.
The annual tournament concluded on Saturday
evening, following several stages of high-level competition at Qatar Bowling
Center.
A total of 165 players participated in this year’s event, which featured a
total prize fund of $97,000.
Käyhkö started the final rounds strongly, rolling
a perfect 300 game in the opening series of the first stage on Friday. Over
eight games, he posted a total of 1,913 pins to secure his place among the top
16 advancing to Saturday’s second stage.
In the next round, the 24 remaining bowlers – the top 16 from stage one and eight players from the preliminary round – bowled another eight-game block. Käyhkö maintained consistent scoring with 1,928, taking the overall lead after the fifth game and holding it through to the end. His performance secured the top seed position and a direct path to the stepladder final.
In the stepladder’s opening match, Sweden’s Pontus Andersson advanced over compatriots Robin Noberg and Anton Persson with a 268 game. Andersson then faced France’s Valentin Saulnier, who had entered as the No. 2 seed. Saulnier won the match 258–226 to reach the title contest against Käyhkö.
The championship match between Käyhkö and Saulnier was close throughout. Käyhkö finished strong to win 238–225, securing the Amir Cup title for Finland.
