David Krol won the 28th DSD Samho Korea Cup International Open on Monday, defeating Mexico’s Arturo Quintero 237-197 in the championship match at Bowltopia in Yongin, South Korea.
The American opened the final with a double and took control early before closing out the victory on September 7.
Krol earned over $44,500 from the tournament’s $222,800 individual prize fund.
Six bowlers reached the televised finals, where they were divided into two three-player shootouts. The winner of each group advanced to the championship match.
Krol won the first shootout with 205, finishing ahead of South Korea’s Lee Jeongsik with 193 and Kim Yeonghwan with 172. Quintero moved on from the second group after facing Chris Via and South Korea’s Lim Seungwon.
The tournament brought together 400 bowlers from 17 countries. The competition was held from September 3-7 at Bowltopia.
Krol finished seventh in PBA Tour points this season.
