The message on Verity Crawley’s and Diana Zavjalova’s shirts urging everyone
to watch women’s bowling could hardly have felt more fitting, as Thursday’s
action at Yorktown Lanes in Parma Heights, Ohio, delivered enough drama for a
Christopher Nolan film.
Singapore's Shayna Ng recovered from a 144
opening game to win the 2026 PWBA Cleveland Open, defeating Jordan Snodgrass
195-186 in the championship match.
The victory earned Ng her fourth career PWBA Tour title, the $10,000 top prize and an automatic place in the season-ending PWBA Tour Championship.
Her route to the title had started not the way she wanted.
“During the practice session, I thought the outside line was the right way to start,” said Ng. “So, I started there and everybody else went left, and boom, 144. The next game I moved left and shot 216 and then 259, the rest is history.”
Ng continued climbing after the difficult start, went 8-4 across Thursday’s two six-game match-play rounds, collected 240 bonus pins, averaging over 216 and eventually earned the No. 1 seed for the stepladder finals.
The stepladder began with Felicia Wong defeating Maria Jose Bohr 217-177. Wong then eliminated Wednesday’s qualifying and the current tour points leader New Hui Fen 208-202 before facing Snodgrass in the semifinal and losing 228-204.
In the championship match, neither player could take control. nodgrass struck in the ninth but left a 9 pin on her first shot in the 10th and finished with 186. Ng needed a mark to win. She left a 10 pin, converted it and struck on her fill ball to close the match with 195.
Snodgrass earned $5,000 for second place, while Wong collected $4,000 for third. New finished fourth for $3,500, and Bohr received $3,000 in fifth.
PWBA Tour Championship Week continues Friday with two six-game qualifying blocks at the PWBA Pepsi Open. The top 16 will advance to Saturday’s single-elimination bracket, which will determine the tournament champion.
The PWBA Tour Championship begins Sunday, with the 24-player field competing in three eight-game blocks of round-robin match play across Sunday and Monday.
The top five will advance to Tuesday’s stepladder finals. All remaining rounds will be streamed live on BowlTV, with the Tour Championship stepladder finals also airing on Bowling TV as one of three major live bowling events the channel will carry this summer.
