The men’s qualifying rounds have concluded at the 2025 European Championship of Champions in Vienna, with Sweden’s Teodor Samuelsson maintaining his strong form to finish on top of the standings after 24 games.
Samuelsson led the final 8-game block with an impressive 1986 and a 248.2 average, bringing his total to 6026, the highest of the entire field. His final block included games of 279, 257, 279, 226, 217, 235, 226, and 267 - securing his place as the top seed heading into Saturday’s finals.
Close behind, Lukáš Jelínek of the Czech Republic delivered another solid performance with 1984, finishing second overall at 5970 and a 248.8 average. Defending champion, France’s Maxime Dubois, ended third on 5796, followed by Paul Purps of Germany in fourth with 5748, and Gaëtan Mouveroux of France completing the top five at 5629.
Other notable scores in the final block included Max Østbergh of Norway, who posted 1903 for fourth place in the block, and Austria’s Thomas Groß, who made the top five of the round with 1853. Finland’s Niko Oksanen, Denmark’s Anders Tausø Christensen, and Latvia’s Rihards Kovalenko also performed well, each exceeding the 1800 mark for the block.

What’s Next
The top 12 finalists will return to the lanes on Saturday, October 25, for Final Step 1, where they will bowl eight more games with scores carried forward. The top four from that stage will then advance to the semifinals (1 vs 4, 2 vs 3), followed by a best-of-three championship match to determine the 2025 European Championship of Champions men’s titleholder.
The women’s final qualifying block will take place later today, completing the
lineup for tomorrow’s decisive finals in Vienna.
