Iceland's Arnar Jonsson swept all three stepladder matches Sunday to win the 2026 Norwegian Open by Storm at Sarpsborg Bowlingsenter in Norway.
Jonsson completed his run with a 221-183 victory over top seed William Svensson of Sweden in the championship match. The win earned him the 50,000 NOK top prize from the tournament's 279,000 NOK prize fund.
Jonsson qualified 21st with 1,253 over six games, which placed him directly into Final Step 2. From there, every round started from scratch and every bad block could have ended his tournament.
He finished fifth in Final Step 2 with 870 to keep moving, then led Final Step 3 with 913. Jonsson added 835 in Final Step 4, taking fourth place and the lowest seed in the four-player stepladder.
Jonsson opened the stepladder against American Andrew Anderson and controlled the match from start to finish, winning 236-173. His next opponent was Norway's Noel Haglund Torgersen, but the result was almost identical as Jonsson advanced 233-169.
That left Svensson, who had led Final Step 4 with 891, waiting in the title match. Jonsson stayed in control one more time and closed his perfect stepladder run with a 38-pin victory.
The Norwegian Open by Storm was held from August 29 to September 6 and brought 54 players into Sunday's final rounds.
It was also the third tournament of the 2026 Thunder Ranking series.
