Champions Crowned at Storm Junior Dutch Open in Haarlem

Scotland’s Isla Claxton won the mixed Masters title at the fourth Storm Junior Dutch Open in Haarlem on Sunday, September 6.

The victory completed a double for Claxton, who had already won the U19 girls’ category.

For the Masters, the five category winners started from zero in a one-game contest. Claxton finished 29 pins clear of Czechia’s Matyáš Mňačko, who scored 191, with fellow Czech Vít Jiřiště just one pin behind in third on 190.

Dano van Velsen of the Netherlands placed fourth with 179, while Czechia’s Zuzana Kvasničková finished fifth with 148.

Five Category Champions Crowned

The category titles were decided over three final games, with scores carried forward from qualifying and the semifinals.

In the U19 girls’ category, Claxton finished on 2,381, ahead of Belgium’s Marie Reusens on 2,204 and Germany’s Saskia Krischke on 2,181. The Scottish bowler had also led the division during qualification.

Matyáš Mňačko won the U19 boys’ title with 2,650. Sweden’s Axton Sandberg finished second on 2,546, followed by another Swede Erik Georgsson on 2,528.

The U26 boys’ title went to Vít Jiřiště with 2,679. The Netherlands’ Calvin Panneman took second with 2,612, while Czechia’s Daniel Muránsky completed the podium on 2,419.

Last year's Masters champion Zuzana Kvasničková won the U26 women’s category with 2,292, ahead of Belgium’s Gitana Weymiens on 2,157 and the Netherlands’ Iris Daemen on 2,120.

Dano van Velsen finished with 1,679 to take the U15 boys’ title and earn his place in the Masters.

After this year’s event, held from August 30 to September 6, organizers announced that the no-urethane Storm Junior Dutch Open will return in May 2027.
