Three Europeans—Dasha Kovalova (Ukraine), Verity Crawley (England), and Daria Pająk (Poland)—advanced to the match play round of the PWBA Greater Nashville Classic at Smyrna Bowling Center.
Kovalova finished second with a total of 2,827, Crawley, the defending champion, secured the 10th spot with 2708 total, and Pająk took the last advancing position, finishing 12th with 2684 total.
Singapore's Cherie Tan delivered an exceptional performance in the qualifying rounds, taking the lead. Tan posted the second-highest six-game qualifying block (trailing only Tan's own record of 2,985 from last year's PWBA Stockton Open) in PWBA history during Round 1, with a score of 1,554 (259 avg.), and maintained her lead in Round 2, finishing with a 12-game total of 2,964, averaging 247.
Joining Tan and three European bowling players in match play of the PWBA Greater Nashville Classic are 8 other competitors: Lauren Russo (Missouri) with 2,827; Sin Li Jane (Malaysia) 2,805; Shannon Pluhowsky (Ohio) 2,800; New Hui Fen (Singapore) 2,780; Hope Gramly (Texas) 2,751; Lindsay Boomershine (Utah) 2,722; Missy Parkin (California) 2,718; and Gazmine Mason (Rhode Island) 2,688.
The PWBA Greater Nashville Classic match play kicks off later today with two rounds, followed by the stepladder finals, to determine the winner of the Greater Nashville Classic and the $10,000 top prize.
