EYC 2024 Day 4 | Girls Doubles | Gold for England

On Thursday morning, the Girls Doubles event took off at the Tali Bowling Center in the Finland's capital Helsinki.

Four teams of two advanced to the semi-finals after the first six qualification games.

Emilie Marie Aas & Madelen Thorsrudhagen Danielsen of Norway sat atop of Girls Doubles qualification with a score of 2690 (224,2 avg.).

Zuzana Kvasničková & Ema Iwazawa of Czech Republic (2655 pinfall), Sofie Kærgaard Nielsen & Karen Kærgaard Nielsen (2585 pinfall) of Denmark, and Abbie Rhodes & Jessica Sillis (2471 pinfall) of England joined them in a race for gold medals.

Although Norway's Emilie Marie Aas & Madelen Thorsrudhagen Danielsen were the best duo in the qualification round, performance of Abbie Rhodes & Jessica Sillis of England was more consistant in the semis. England overcame Norway 417-381.

In the other semi-final,Czech Republic's duet Zuzana Kvasničková & Ema Iwazawa defeated Denmark's Sofie Kærgaard Nielsen & Karen Kærgaard Nielsen in a close game fight with a final result of 404-401.

In the final game, England's athletes showcased stellar performance, seizing the title with a big 489-407 victory and proved to be the best this year in the Girls Doubles event.

It was second EYC 2024 medal for Jessica Sillis. She won bornze in Girls Singles category earlier this week.

Sixteen best performers will advance to the next round of the All-Event category after 18 qualification games. Here are the top 8 performers after the first twelve games in the Girls All-Event.

All championship activities will be held from the 25th of March to the 1st of April 2024. A total of 28 European bowling federations and 168 youth athletes participate in the event.
