Big Scores Shake Up the Leaderboard at the Brunswick Ballmaster Open

The Brunswick Ballmaster Open continued on Thursday with three qualification squads bowled at Tali Bowling Hall.

Squads 11, 12 and 13 featured a strong international field and produced several high scores that reshaped the overall standings.

Morning squad was led by Sweden's William Svensson, who posted the highest score of the tournament so far.

Svensson rolled games of 254, 239, 246, 211, 255 and 268 to finish with a six-game total of 1,473. Dan Agerbo Østergaard followed in second place with 1,390, while Estonia's Kert Truus placed third at 1,372.

Santtu Tahvanainen finished fourth with 1,366, and England's Ben Robinson completed the top five with 1,353. A 35-time PBA Tour title winner Parker Bohn III placed sixth at 1,347, followed by Louie Dawson at 1,344 and Emanuel Jonsson at 1,341. Emma Halttunen finished ninth with 1,320, while Lukáš Jelínek rounded out the top ten at 1,316.

In Squad 12, Robinson returned to the lanes and delivered the best score of the session. His six-game total of 1,387 placed him at the top of the squad. Sweden's Nora Johansson followed closely in second place with 1,370, while Italy's Andrea Ligato finished third with 1,366.

Denmark's Megan Dicay placed fourth at 1,359, and Truus added another solid performance with 1,346 in fifth place. Niko Oksanen finished sixth with 1,338, ahead of Robin Ilhammar at 1,335. Bohn placed eighth with 1,333, Luukas Luostarinen finished ninth at 1,328, and Germany's Paul Purps completed the top ten with 1,322.

The final squad of the day, Squad 13, produced another high-scoring block.

Niko Oksanen delivered the top result with a six-game total of 1,468, moving him into second place overall. Mathias Ankerdal followed closely with 1,464, while Rami Mukkula placed third at 1,463.

Jesper Svensson finished fourth with 1,388, ahead of Martin Larsen at 1,380. Noel Haglund followed with 1,365, Linus Boström scored 1,355, and Viktor Mortensen and Markus Jansson both finished on 1,343. Dragnia Mihai completed the top ten with 1,335.

The Brunswick Ballmaster Open continues on Friday with three more qualification squads scheduled starting at 10AM local.

18 squads will be played thoughout qualification. The tournament runs from January 2 to January 11.

After the qualification rounds, 48 bowlers will advance to the finals. The top 38 players in the overall standings will qualify directly, while the remaining 10 places will be decided through additional qualification paths - early bird and desperado.
