As 2022 being wrapped up, Swedish Bowling Association announced the Bowler of the Year awards in men and women categories. Jesper Svensson was appointed as the best male bowler in Sweden for the forth time, while the whole Swedish women's national team of 2022 IBF World Cup was awarded with the Bowler of the Year trophy in women's category.
2022 was a tremendous year for Jesper Svensson. At the European Championships in June, he won five medals, including gold in doubles and All Event. His efforts strongly contributed to Sweden becoming the best nation in the championship with the Swedens second best national performance in European Championships on the men's side of all time. The 'Ice Man' also captured his 11th PBA title, winning The Storm Cup: PBA David Small's Championship in Jackson, Michigan.
In the beginning of 2023, Jesper Swensson will attend in competitions of European tour - AIK International Tournament and Brunswick Ballmaster Open. At the end of January, he will participate in the PBA tour in the U.S.
The whole golden team of the IBF World Cup - Jenny Wegner, Anna Andersson, Josefin Hermanssonand Cajsa Wegner - was presented with the Women's Bowler of the Year award by the Swedish Bowling Association.
While men struggled in the IBF World Cup in Australia, women showed excellent gameplay against top bowling nations in the world, finally claiming the gold. All four players were also behind many medals at a fantastic European Championships in August, where Sweden took 14 out of 17 possible medals.
