The Swedish Bowling Federation has announced that Sweden will not participate in the European Youth Bowling Championships 2025, scheduled to take place in Samsun, Turkey, from April 12 to 21.

The decision was made during a federation board meeting over the weekend.

Concerns about the security situation for Swedes in Turkey and ongoing unrest in the region were cited as key factors. Additionally, limited travel options to and from Samsun and a lack of detailed information about the event influenced the decision.

“This has been a difficult decision, but considering these factors, we have decided not to participate,” said Helena Sundqvist, Chair of the Swedish Bowling Federation.

Sweden has had a strong track record in recent European Youth Championships, including winning 13 medals in 2023 and seven medals in 2024, with one gold. The 2025 championship will mark the first time Sweden does not participate in European Youth Championship.

The Swedish national team management is now exploring alternative activities for junior players instead of the European Youth Championships.
