Sweden’s Mattias Wetterberg has won the English Open 2025, held at Stroud Bowl in the Five Valleys Shopping Centre in Stroud, England.
The tournament concluded with the top eight players competing in four final
games to determine the English Open champion.
Wetterberg, who
qualified in 23rd place, successfully advanced through Final Steps 1, 2, and 3
before delivering a strong performance in the final. He scored 976 in the last
four games to finish with a total of 1865 and secure the title.
England’s Ben Robinson finished second with 1803, while Brandon Roberts placed
third with 1772, just one pin ahead of Sweden’s Kevin Melin, who took fourth.
For the win, Wetterberg received a top prize of £3,500.
The English Open 2025 took place from 26 September to 5 October and is one of the most anticipated scratch bowling tournaments in the United Kingdom. The event attracted both domestic and international players and was sanctioned by the BTBA.
