Denmark’s Mathias Ankerdal successfully defended his Odense International title on Sunday, defeating fellow Dane Anton Petersen 248-243 in the championship match at Odense Bowlinghal & Simgolf Center.

Last year, Ankerdal won the tournament when he defeated Sofie Kærgaard Nielsen 237-187 in the final.

The defending champion finished qualification in third place with 1,408 over six games, averaging 234.67. That result advanced him directly to Final Step 3.

In the last step, final eight players were divided into two elimination groups. Ankerdal led Group 2 with games of 248, 204 and 256 for a 708 total, finishing ahead of Niclas Sørensen, Tobias Kastfelt Bryde and Jimmy Leen.

Anton Petersen won Group 1 with 771, opening with a 297 before adding 249 and 225. That set up the title match between the two Danish finalists, where Ankerdal completed his successful title defense.
