
The 2025 IBF World Cup concluded with dramatic team event finals at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium in Hong Kong.
Malaysia secured the gold medal in the men’s team event, while the USA triumphed in the women’s competition after two thrilling five-game matches.
In the men’s final, Malaysia’s Tun Hakim, Timmy Tan, Rafiq Ismail, and Ahmad Muaz defeated Puerto Rico 3-2. The Malaysian team took the first game but faced a strong comeback from Puerto Rico, who tied the match twice. In the decisive fifth game, Malaysia delivered a commanding 227-161 victory, securing their first-ever gold medal in the men’s team event.
The women’s final saw the USA, featuring Bryanna Coté, Lauren Russo, Shannon Pluhowsky and Jillian Martin overcome Malaysia in another closely contested match. Malaysia, led by Natasha Roslan, Gillian Lim, Sin Li Jane, and Siti Safiyah Amirah Abdul Rahman, battled fiercely. The two teams traded wins, forcing a fifth game. Despite a strong start by Malaysia, the USA capitalized on critical moments and clinched the final game 211-180 to secure the gold medal.
Malaysia concluded the tournament with an impressive medal haul, including gold in the men’s team event, gold in the women’s singles by Natasha Roslan, and two silvers in the women’s team and men’s singles events.
