Sweden’s Markus Jansson topped Group A with 18 points and 1608 total pinfall. His steady performance kept him ahead of Denmark’s Dan Østergard and the United States’ Patrick Hanrahan, securing the Swedish athlete a spot in the medal round.

Finland delivered a remarkable showing as two Finnish athletes advanced to the semi-finals. In Group C, Luukas Väänänen dominated with 18 points and 1631 total pinfall, earning one of the four available places.

The second Finnish qualifier, Tomas Käyhkö, advanced from Group B after a dramatic finish. Käyhkö, Romania’s Mihai-Alin Dragnia and Malaysia’s Mohammad Hafiz Zainuddin all finished on 15 points, forcing a tiebreaker. Käyhkö won the one-game rolloff with 244, ahead of Dragnia (205) and Zainuddin (204), to secure Finland’s second semi-final position.

The final semi-finalist emerged from Group D, where Ryan Barnes of the United States topped the standings with 15 points and 1592 total pinfall, staying ahead of Korea’s Ji Geun, Czech Republic’s Lukáš Jelínek and Hong Kong’s Ma Ka Yin, Jovi.

Two perfect games were recorded during Men’s Round 2. Australia’s Blake Walsh rolled a 300 in Group D, and Malaysia’s Hafiz Zainuddin delivered a 300 in Game 7 of Group B to force the decisive rolloff.

The four group winners - Jansson, Väänänen, Käyhkö and Barnes - move on to Thursday’s semi-finals and finals. Finland’s Luukas Väänänen will face the USA’s Ryan Barnes, while Sweden’s Markus Jansson meets Finland’s Tomas Käyhkö in the second matchup.

The attention now shifts to the Women’s Singles Round 2, which is currently underway at Top Bowl. Once the women’s groups conclude, both the men’s and women’s semi-finals will take place later today, followed by the finals that will decide the first gold medals of the 2025 IBF World Championships.
