Finland's bowling tournament - the XIII Winter Open - will kick off at Mikkeli Keilakukko Bowling Center next week.
Organized by St. Michel Bowlers, the competition boasts an impressive prize pool of over €6,600. The winner will claim a prize of over €1,000, while the top player in the B-Final will receive €500.
The tournament begins on January 6, 2025, and qualification will run until February 22, 2025.
Participants in the qualifying rounds will play six games, with unlimited re-entries allowed. The finals are scheduled for February 23.
The A-Final will feature winners from three separate qualifying blocks and the top 13 players based on six-game scores, with participants competing in an eight-game series.
The B-Final, which includes the top 16 six-game scorers, will be decided over six games.
Bowlers in categories B, C, or D who achieve high enough scores can choose whether to compete in the A-Final or B-Final.
Luukas Väänänen, winner of the Winter Open in 2023 and 2024, is aiming for a historic third consecutive title. Fellow Mainareiden bowler Joonas Jehkinen is also in contention for his third victory in this tournament. The tournament’s winner list includes celebrated players such as Petteri Salonen, Tomas Käyhkö, Jari Ratia, Jesse Kallio, and Niko Oksanen.
