The first day of the highly anticipated European Youth Bowling Championships 2025 in Samsun, Turkey kicked off with an exciting start as the Boys’ Singles event took center stage. Young talents from across Europe hit the lanes aiming for gold — and by the end of the day, England’s Frank Stephenson stood at the top.

Stephenson showed great consistency and confidence in the finals. He defeated Malta’s Nicolai Mallia 235–204 in the semifinal, and then beat Denmark’s Sebastian Holm Holst in the final 213–201 to claim the title.

Earlier, Holst had a huge game in the semifinals, scoring 280 to beat his Danish teammate and No. 1 seed Tobias Kastfelt Bryde, who had led the qualification round with a 226 average. The opening day of EYC 2025 also brought an early highlight on the lanes — the tournament’s first perfect game. Shane Wanzke, a talented two-handed bowler, rolled a 300 during Game 3 of the Boys' Singles qualification round.
