The European Championship of Champions, organized by the European Bowling Federation (EBF), brings together the reigning national champions from across Europe. Each athlete competes in 24 qualifying games divided into three 8-game blocks, with today’s opening session marking the start of the event.
Beuthner posted games of 215, 268, 277, 227, 220, 200, 200, and 203 to take the top position heading into the next stage. Close behind is Jenny Mathiesen of Norway, who sits in second place with 1778 and a 222.2 average. France’s Solene Goron is currently third with 1746 (218.2 average).
The top five after the first block also include Samantha Greiner of the Netherlands (1726) and Hayley Russell of England (1717). Czech Republic’s Ema Iwazawa follows closely in sixth with 1706, while Austria’s Tamara Adler, representing the host nation, holds eighth place with 1646. Karen Kærgaard Nielsen of Denmark sits ninth with 1632, while Hannah Masterson of Ireland rounds out the top ten with 1629.
The opening block gave bowlers their first test on the 42-foot oil pattern featuring a 2.98:1 ratio and 27.4 mL of oil.

The women will return to the lanes on Friday, October 24, for their second qualifying block, while the men’s competition begins later today with their first eight games.
Action continues throughout the week, with Mixed Doubles on Thursday and the top 12 finals and championship matches concluding on Saturday, October 25, at Plus Bowling in Vienna.
Following qualifying, the top 12 bowlers in each division will advance to
Final Step 1 for eight additional games, with scores carried forward. The top
four will then proceed to head-to-head semifinals (1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3). Winners
will meet in a best-of-three match to decide the 2025 European Championship of
