The Trios event at the European Men’s Bowling Championships 2025 concluded on Wednesday in Aalborg, with the host nation Denmark taking home gold.
Mathias Grønne Ankerdal, Bjørn Saksager Jensen, and Dan Agerbo Østergaard led Denmark to a 658–591 win over France in the final, securing the country’s first medal of the tournament. Denmark, seeded third after qualification, defeated Romania in the semifinal 619–598. The Romanian trio included Mihai Alin Dragnia, Catalin Gheorghe, and Mate Balazs-Becsi.

France, the top qualifier with Maxime Dubois, Gaëtan Mouveroux, and Valentin Saulnier, reached the final by beating Romania’s second trio — Octavian Anton Craciun, Romeo Gagenoiu, and David Martin Orlanda — 639–521.
The two Romanian teams were both awarded bronze medals, marking Romania’s first-ever podium finish at the European Men’s Bowling Championships.
With Singles, Doubles, and Trios now completed, the All-Event standings are beginning to take shape. After 18 out of 24 games, French bowlers currently dominate the leaderboard. Gaëtan Mouveroux leads with 4012 total (222.9 avg), followed by teammates Maxime Dubois with 3950 (219.4 avg) and Valentin Saulnier with 3901 (216.7 avg).
Italy’s Antonino Fiorentino, who won Singles gold, sits in fourth with 3888 (216 avg), ahead of Denmark’s Carsten Warming Hansen at 3766 (209.2 avg). Doubles gold winner Finland’s Tomas Käyhkö (3752 / 208.4 avg), Sweden’s Robin Ilhammar (3749 / 208.3 avg), along with Finland's Juhani Tonteri (3704 / 205.8 avg), round out the current top eight.
The tournament continues Thursday with the opening day of the team event.
Each team will bowl three games on Thursday and three more on Friday, with the top four advancing to the semifinals and final rounds later on Friday evening.
