The BowlingGP France Senior 2024 continued to heat up on Day 4 as Saturday's competition featured three intense qualification squads, setting the stage for Sunday’s finals at Bowling Plaza Rouen Grand-Quevilly.

Squad 11 Highlights

Steve Williams opened Saturday competition taking the victory in Squad 11 with a 1430 total. Williams took squad win in style - he scored 279 to win Scratch game and he also took the win in Scratch series, scoring 1370. Valerie Murat posted 1309 to claim the win in the Women's division, while Francisco Vaz earned the Best Local Player award in Squad 11 with a 1105 total.

Squad 12 Highlights

Squad 12 begun with a tournament's first perfect game from France's Frederic Cosquer. Veronique Perniaux continued her impressive run in the Women's division, securing another win with a remarkable total of 1495, the best result of the entire squad. She also claimed the Scratch series title with a total of 1465. Paulo Vial took the victory in Men's division with a solid score of 1477, while Pierre Prou earned the Best Local Player award with a score of 1130.

Squad 13 Highlights

DUring the last qualification squad, Christer Hörngren clinched the victory with an impressive 279 in the final game, finishing with a total score of 1450. Isabelle Sacco dominated the Women's division with 1411, also securing the Scratch series title with a total of 1381. Nadia Goron took home the Best Local Player award in Squad 13 with a score of 1216.

Final stages

Squad 13 marked the end of the qualification, which consisted of 12 games split into two series of 6 games, with all the participants having a chance to re-enter.

For the men's division, a total of 42 players advanced to the final stages. Tomorrow, 14 players positioned 15-28, along with 14 other qualifiers from Scratch, Early Bird and Turbo competition standings, will battle it out in 4-game competition during Final Step 1. After that, the top 14 from Step 1 and those ranked 1-14 in qualification will face off in another round of 4 games. From there, the top 16 players will engage in a match-play series, narrowing the field to the semi-finalists and then the finalists, in thrilling knockout rounds that determine the men’s champion.

For the women's division, 12 players qualified for the final rounds. In Step 1, a 6-game series will decide the top 4 semi-finalists, leading to single-game matches to determine women’s champion.

Additionally, local divisions for both men and women will give regional players a chance to shine!

The finals competition is set for Sunday, starting at 9 AM local time.

Over 140 senior bowlers, aged 50 and above, from 15 different countries are competing in this International Senior Bowling Tour (ISBT) event, officially recognized by both the European Bowling Federation (EBF) and the International Bowling Federation (IBF).

The €33,000 prize pool, including €3,000 each for the top men’s and women’s champions, ensures this tournament is a highlight of the 2024 senior bowling calendar.

Juho Vuoppola Wins Berlin City Open 2025

Juho Vuoppola from Finland won the Berlin City Open 2025 on Sunday evening at City Bowling Hasenheide in Berlin, Germany. The Finnish bowler secured the title by defeating Germany’s Laura Beuthner in a two-game final with a total score of 494 to 435.Vuoppola took the lead early in the final match with a strong 269–234 victory in the first game. He followed up with a 225–215 win in the second game, sealing the overall result in his favor. To reach the final, Vuoppola defeated Lukáš Jelínek from the Czech Republic 424-369 (232-176, 192-193) in the semifinal round. On the other side of the bracket, Laura Beuthner advanced to the final after beating fellow German bowler Paul Purps 436-430 (195-238, 225-192). The 2025 PBA Sweden tour continues this August as the third stop, the PBA Sweden Badger Stockholm Open, heads to New Bowl Center Gullmarsplan from August 8 to 10. This event follows two exciting tournaments in Jönköping and Eskilstuna that kicked off the four-part series. At the opening stop in February, Pontus Andersson took home the title at the Chameleon Jönköping Open. He delivered a dominant performance in the stepladder finals, defeating Albin Lindberg 258–199. With this win, Andersson earned an international invitation to the 2026 PBA World Series of Bowling and secured a place in Final Step 1 of the 2025 Storm Lucky Larsen Masters. Robin Ilhammar Wins 10th Brunswick Madrid Challenge in Spain

Sweden’s Robin Ilhammar continued his incredible summer run by winning the 10th Brunswick Madrid Challenge, held July 5–13, 2025, in Madrid, Spain.Ilhammar defeated Czech Republic’s Lukáš Jelínek 245–222 in the final match to secure the title, adding to his recent victories at the IBF World Cup and the European Men’s Championships Masters event. At the end of May, Ilhammar also won the Kegel Aalborg International Open in Denmark. Earlier in the semifinal, Lukáš Jelínek edged out Spain’s Michael Piccari 214–211 before facing Ilhammar in the championship match. Endrina Bracuto of Venezuela won the women's competition.
