Jason Belmonte will miss the next two stops on the PBA Tour.

The 42-year-old Australian announced earlier today that he will not compete in the upcoming PBA events in New York and Maine, choosing instead to take a short break from the tour.

Belmonte will skip the PBA New York Classic, starting tomorrow at ABC Gates Bowl, as well as the PBA Roth/Holman Doubles Championship, which will take place April 14-19 at Bayside Bowl.

In his statement, Belmonte explained that he has decided to take a couple of weeks off and will return to Australia to reset. The fifteen-time major champion confirmed that he plans to be back for the PBA Tournament of Champions, which will take place April 21-26.

The decision also means that Belmonte will not defend his title at the Roth/Holman Doubles Championship. He won last year’s event alongside Bill O'Neill, defeating Shawn Maldonado and DJ Archer in the final to claim their second title in the event.

Belmonte ranks seventh in points after six events on the 2026 PBA Tour season and led Team World to a three-peat at the 2026 PBA USA vs. The World on April 4.

The PBA Tour is now heading to the Big Apple for the Surfside New York Classic, which begins tomorrow at ABC Gates Bowl in Rochester.

There will be no pre-tournament qualifier this time, as all 132 players will start directly in the qualifying rounds.

Most of the field is made up of priority entries, while the remaining spots are open to PBA members without that status. These entries are filled on a first-come, first-served basis, depending on the exact time and date of registration.

The tournament will be played on the 38-foot Bear oil pattern. Players will bowl two qualifying rounds of eight games each, for a total of 16 games. After that, only the top third of the field will move on to the Advancers Round.

From there, three rounds of match play will decide the five finalists, who will advance to the stepladder finals and compete for the title.
