The Men’s Singles qualifying round at the IBF World Championships 2025 has finished at Top Bowl inside Kai Tak Sports Park in Hong Kong.
A total of 168 bowlers completed eight games on the tournament’s 46-foot pattern, and Sweden’s Jesper Svensson ended the day in first place. Two-handed lefty scored 1497 total and averaged 249.50 with games of 258, 236, 257, 279, 238 and 229.
Korea’s Baek Seung Min followed in second place with 1468, and Denmark’s Nicolas Carter was close behind with 1464. Korea’s Ji Geun and France’s Gaëtan Mouveroux completed the top five with 1454 and 1449.
Finland’s Luukas Väänännen posted 1447, Malaysia’s Rafiq Ismail finished with 1446, and Sweden’s Markus Jansson recorded 1442. Denmark’s Mathias Ankerdal scored 1437, while Romania’s Mihai-Alin Dragnia placed tenth with 1435.
The final qualifying spot went to Abdulrahman Al Doseri of Qatar. His block included the first 300 game of the championship, which helped him secure the last advancing position.
The battle around the cut line was extremely close, as seven bowlers missed the top 32 by fewer than ten pins. One bowler missed by three pins and three others by four.
The remaining players will compete in round-robin match play, divided into four groups of eight on Thursday. Each bowler will face every opponent in their group once. A win awards three points and a tie gives one point. Only the top point earner in each group will reach the semifinals.
