Andrew Anderson Lead 24-Player Field into Match Play of the 2025 U.S. Open

Just like the after Round 2, Andrew Anderson maintained the lead the field at the 2025 U.S. Open after the final round of qualifying at Royal Pin Woodland in Indianapolis. Anderson finished with a total pinfall of 5360, securing the top spot as the tournament heads into match play.


Jakob Butturff scored 5313 to finish second, while Anthony Simonsen took third with 5297. Chris Via (5223) and Jason Sterner (5217) rounded out the top five.


Among other notable performances, 18-year-old Landin Jordan advanced to match play for the second consecutive year, finishing eighth. Meanwhile, rookie Cameron Crowe made a significant jump from 47th to 13th place, scoring 1832 over eight games in the third qualifying round.


However, the highest score of the round belonged to EJ Tackett. Sitting in 78th place after 16 games—186 pins outside the cut—Tackett started his final eight-game block with a 186 but rebounded impressively. He averaged over 240 in his last seven games to secure a spot in match play, ultimately making the cut by 21 pins and finishing 22nd.


Triple-Crown contender Kris Prather sits in 10th place, while Jason Belmonte, aiming for a second career Super Slam, holds 12th.


The final match play spot went to Nathan Bohr, who edged out defending champion Kyle Troup by just two pins, finishing with a total of 5,022.



On Friday 24 players will start compete in three rounds of round-robin match play. Their 48-game totals, including 30 bonus pins for each match play win, will determine the final nine bowlers who will advance to the two stepladder finals broadcasts.


The first show, featuring seeds No. 5-9, will take place on February 1. The winner of that stepladder will join seeds No. 1-4 in the championship round on February 2, which will air on FOX.


The 2025 U.S. Open patterns




The 2025 U.S. Open is a joint effort between the United States Bowling Congress and the Bowling Proprietors’ Association of America. It is recognized as a major event on the Professional Bowlers Association Tour and stands as one of the most prestigious tournaments in the sport.


With a prize fund surpassing $275,000, including a $100,000 top prize, the competition is fierce for every participant. Success in the 2025 U.S. Open will depend greatly on each bowler’s ability to conquer the four tough oil patterns, as this tournament is renowned for its challenging conditions. Royal Pin Woodland will once again serve as the venue, providing the perfect backdrop for thrilling matches and unforgettable moments as the world’s top bowlers compete for the title.
