The 2026 PBA Tour season is hitting its stride, and now it’s time for one of the most prestigious events in the sport.
Starting this Tuesday, nearly 400 of the world’s best bowlers are taking over Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park, Michigan, for the 2026 USBC Masters.
With a massive $100,000 top prize on the line and a major title at stake, the pressure in Detroit will be through the roof.

The 2026 USBC Masters marks a shift in how the champion will be crowned. Following the move to a new broadcaster, The CW, the tournament is returning to the traditional five-player stepladder finals.
The road to the show is intense: the final two competitors in the Winners Bracket will face off to determine the top seed, while the final four players in the Elimination Bracket will fight for the remaining three spots on TV.
In the championship match, the #1 seed only needs to be defeated once, not twice, as in previous years.
The Pattern: 2026 USBC Masters (41 Feet)
The Masters pattern is designed to identify the absolute best shot-maker in the building. This year, Kegel has laid out a 41-foot challenge that leaves little room for error.
- Distance: 41 Feet
- Total Volume: 35.59 mL (Extremely heavy)
- Pattern Ratio: 1.87:1
Players to Watch
Gary Haines returns as the defending champion after winning his first PBA Tour title at last year’s event, showing he can handle the pressure of the Masters bracket. After missing a few stops due to injury, he’s back on the lanes with one clear goal — to defend his title.
Anthony Simonsen comes in with strong momentum. After finishing runner-up at the U.S. Open, he followed it up with his 17th career title at the PBA Illinois Classic. Still just 29, Simonsen already owns three USBC Masters titles and will be looking to add another.
Brandon Bonta has already made a name for himself this season. The rookie standout captured a major title at the PBA Players Championship and even rolled a 300 game during his first-ever TV finals appearance, making him one to watch again.
EJ Tackett, a three-time reigning Player of the Year, climbed to the top of the 2026 PBA Tour points standings after a third-place finish at the Indiana Classic. Despite not winning yet this season, he remains one of the most consistent players on tour — and a major title at Thunderbowl Lanes would be a perfect way to remind everyone why.
