PBA Sweden will hold its 2027 regional tour on a single weekend, organizers announced earlier today.

Three PBA Regional titles will be decided at Loft Bowl in Skövde from January 28 to 31, 2027.

The 72 bowlers will compete in two shorter tournaments, the PBA Sweden Cheetah and the PBA Sweden Scorpion, and in a longer PBA Sweden Super Regional. One entry fee covers all three titles.

Registration opens on November 1.

"It's new for us, but it's basically a mini WSOB format!" PBA Sweden wrote in its announcement.

How the Skövde weekend works

All 72 bowlers will bowl eight qualifying games in two squads of 36. The top 16 return that evening for four more games, with their qualifying pinfall carried over. The top three advance to the Cheetah stepladder final.

Next day follows the same format for the Scorpion title. Both stepladder finals will be bowled on Saturday evening.

The Super Regional runs alongside the two shorter events.

Qualifying is 24 games across Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The top 24 advance to Sunday's cashers round, an eight-game block with qualifying scores carried over. The top five then bowl a stepladder final on Sunday afternoon for the Super Regional title.

Prizes and qualification spots

The Super Regional has a fixed prize fund of SEK 216,000, and all 24 bowlers in the cashers round will earn prize money.

The winner receives SEK 30,000, a free entry to the 2028 PBA World Series of Bowling (valued at $1,500) and a place in Step 1 of the 2027 Storm Lucky Larsen Masters finals.

Second place pays SEK 20,000 and 24th place pays SEK 5,000.

The Cheetah and Scorpion each have a fixed prize fund of SEK 33,000. Each winner receives a free 2028 WSOB entry, a Step 1 qualifying place at the 2027 Storm Lucky Larsen Masters, and eligibility for the PBA Tournament of Champions pre-tournament qualifier. Second place pays SEK 6,000 and third place pays SEK 4,000.

Under Swedish tax rules, players from outside Sweden pay 15 percent tax on their prize money.

A new shape for the PBA Sweden season

In 2026, PBA Sweden held its regionals as separate weekend events in different cities, including Nässjö, Malmö and Stockholm.

In 2027, the season will have two parts: the Skövde weekend and the Storm Lucky Larsen Masters, set for August 20 to 30, 2027, at Olympia Bowling in Helsingborg. SLLM awards a PBA National title, and its winner receives an invitation to the 2028 PBA Tournament of Champions. You can read our preview of the 2026 edition.

After all events, the top points finisher qualifies for the 2027 PBA Regional Players Invitational. One regular spot and one senior spot are available.

Entry and registration

Registration opens on November 1, 2026, at 12:00 Swedish time and closes on December 31, 2026. The entry fee is SEK 5,000, which includes PBA Sweden membership, or SEK 4,000 for full PBA members. Entries are first come, first served, and fees must be paid when you register. There are no re-entries.

The event is open to players from IBF member federations who hold PBA or PBA Sweden membership. Players register through the PBA Sweden registration page.
