McCarthy Leads PWBA Lilac City Open Into Match Play

Erin McCarthy led 87-player qualifying at the PWBA Lilac City Open at ABC Gates Bowl in Rochester, New York.

In the third and final event of the PWBA Summer Series, the 2026 USBC Queens champion scored 2,688 over 12 games and led the top 24 players into Monday’s match-play bracket.

McCarthy, together with seven other players, also earned a bye straight into the Round of 16.

Cherie Tan of Singapore qualified second with 2,677. Josie Barnes was third with 2,663, while Canada’s Felicia Wong finished fourth with 2,655.

Malaysia’s Sin Li Jane qualified fifth with 2,641. Liz Johnson was sixth with 2,637, and Jordan Snodgrass finished seventh with 2,629.

Sweden’s Nora Johansson earned the final bye after winning a roll-off 205-193 against Alexis Runk after both players finished qualifying tied at 2,621.

The final match-play spot went to Olivia Farwell, who finished 24th with 2,536. She will face Alexis Runk in the Round of 24.

Match play begins Monday at 9 a.m. ET. The winners will move into the Round of 16, where they will join the eight players who earned first-round byes. The Round of 16 is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. ET.

All matches through the Round of 8 will use a best-of-three-game format.

After the Round of 8, the four winners and the highest-seeded losing player will advance to the stepladder finals. The PWBA Lilac City Open stepladder finals are scheduled for Monday at 6:30 p.m. ET.
