Team USA's Gianna Brandolino did not expect a high-scoring day in Munich. Ironically, she opened her singles qualifying with a 267.

In fact, that was the highest game of the women's opening day at the 2026 IBF World Cup. The American averaged 204.3 for a 1,430 total in the first seven rounds of singles qualifying and currently leads Group B, Pool 1 with 18 points, together with Norway's Madelen Thorsrudhagen Danielsen.

“I would describe my first seven games as rewarding. I think going into the day we knew that scores weren't going to be super high and so just knowing the comfort of going out and just having to make good shots and execute was a good thing,” she told BowlingLife.

“I think overall I stayed patient and put it all out there and it just worked out in my favor.”

Six rounds remain before the top four from each pool move on to the singles Top 32 on Sunday, October 18. Brandolino does not plan to change her approach.

“I think just like I said, remembering to stay patient and just stay in my little bubble and just going out and making good shots.”
