The 2025 USBC Masters is heating up at Thunderbowl Lanes, as match play intensifies and top bowlers battle for a coveted spot in Sunday’s stepladder finals. Only 16 competitors remain in the Winners Bracket, including three-time USBC Masters champion Anthony Simonsen, reigning PBA Player of the Year EJ Tackett, and 2025 PBA Hall of Fame inductee Bill O’Neill. All three remain undefeated—O’Neill, the top seed for match play, secured victories over defending champion DeeRonn Booker and Jake Peters, while Simonsen took down Chad Roberts and Matt Ogle. Meanwhile, Tackett earned wins against Nate Purches and Luukas Väänänen.
Defending champion DeeRonn Booker faced early adversity, dropping his opening match to O’Neill. However, he rebounded with wins over Brent Boho and Brad Miller to stay in contention. To reach Saturday’s Elimination Bracket finals, which will air live on FS1, he’ll need four more wins on Friday.
The final four players in the Winners Bracket will be determined through knockout-style matches, with the victors securing spots in Sunday’s stepladder finals. The fifth and final spot will go to the winner of Saturday’s Elimination Bracket finals.
In the championship match, the top seed will need to be defeated twice to lose the title. The 2025 USBC Masters champion will claim a PBA major title and the $100,000 top prize. Full 2025 USBC Masters Match Play bracket results can be found here.
