Top Seeds Fall at PBA Pete Weber Classic Round of 16

Only eight players remain at the PBA Pete Weber Missouri Classic at Bowlero St. Peters in Missouri, as the Round of 16 delivered immediate drama, with five of the eight players who earned a bye after qualifying being eliminated.

Advancing to the Round of 8 are EJ Tackett, Thomas Larsen, Graham Fach, Tom Smallwood, Hayden Stippich, Anthony Neuer, Matt Russo and Justin Knowles.

Tackett continued his strong run with another confident performance, defeating Patrick Dombrowski 4-2, while Thomas Larsen defeated Cameron Crowe 4-2. Fach stayed hot after his huge Round of 24 sweep and kept his title hopes alive by defeating Packy Hanrahan 4-2.

Smallwood knocked off Zach Wilkins 4-2 to move forward, meanwhile Hayden Stippich advanced after defeating top seed Jason Belmonte 4-2. Anthony Neuer kept his remarkable comeback story going by taking down Austin Grammar 4-3, while Matt Russo protected his bye and moved past Brandon Runk 4-2, and Justin Knowles closed out AJ Chapman 4-1 to secure his spot in the next round.

Here are the Round of 8 matchups:

  • EJ Tackett vs. Thomas Larsen
  • Graham Fach vs. Tom Smallwood
  • Hayden Stippich vs. Anthony Neuer
  • Matt Russo vs. Justin Knowles

The Round of 8 match play will begin at 6 p.m. CST.

The four winners will secure their place in Sunday’s stepladder finals, while the highest-seeded loser in the Round of 8 will still earn the No. 5 seed on the show.
