Raymond Teece of England finished qualifying at the European Championship of Champions with a 300 game and took the men's lead by six pins. Alexandra Giannadaki of Greece leads the women after the final block of 24 qualifying games at Rollhouse Bilkent in Ankara.
The top 12 men and women now move on to Saturday's finals day.
Men: Teece closes with 300
Teece started Friday in fifth place and bowled the best block of the championship. He opened with 246 and 225, shot 290 in game 20 and finished with 1,918, a 239.8 average.
Going into the last game, he was 85 pins behind Lukas Jelinek. Teece struck out for a perfect game while Jelinek bowled 209, and the Englishman finished on top with 5,361 (223.4) to Jelinek's 5,355 (223.1).
Mathias Danielsen Otting of Norway is third with 5,261, and Jord van Weeren of the Netherlands, the mixed doubles champion with Nicole Sanders, is fourth with 5,158.
Italy's Andrea Mangiacotti (1,797) and Slovakia's Simon Hrusovsky (1,765) had the next best blocks of the day and moved up to eighth and ninth. Hrusovsky, 13th after day one, bowled 279 in game 21.
Denmark's Tobias Kastfelt Vryde took the last spot with 4,829 after a 1,488 block. Switzerland's Marc Jörg climbed from 19th to 13th but missed the cut by 63 pins, with Estonia's Kert Isakar 70 pins short in 14th.

Women: Giannadaki takes over
Giannadaki was third after Thursday and bowled 1,722 on Friday, a 215.3 average and the best women's block of the day. Her 255 in game 20 was her high game of the day.
She finished qualifying with 4,853 (202.2), 118 pins ahead of Hannah Masterson. The Irish bowler led after the first two days but averaged 185.0 in the final block and finished second with 4,735.
Sanders added 1,632 and moved up to third with 4,693. England's Verity Crawley (4,636) and Finland's Ani Juntunen (4,634) are fourth and fifth, separated by two pins.
The cut came down to a few pins. Hungary's Luminita Bucin held 12th place with 4,329. Iceland's Marika Katarina E. Lönnoth finished 13th, four pins short, and Austria's Ivonne Gross was 14th, seven pins back.
Slovakia's Kristina Sramkova, 13th after day two, bowled 1,512 and moved up to ninth. Poland's Joanna Merklejn had the women's high game of the day, a 266.

Saturday: finals and medals
On Saturday, the top 12 men and women bowl an eight-game round, games 25 to 32. The top players then meet in best-of-three semifinals and finals.
The singles medals and the mixed doubles medals will be presented on Saturday.
