The stage is set for the PBA Pete Weber Missouri Classic stepladder finals at Enterprise Park Lanes in Springfield, Missouri. The finals will be broadcast live on FS1 at 7 PM Central European Time on Sunday, February 16.
After missing the cut at the PBA Illinois Classic, finishing 29th, EJ Tackett continues his quest for his third consecutive Player of the Year award, earning the No. 1 seed in the PBA Pete Weber Missouri Classic stepladder finals. In the single-elimination match play round, Tackett defeated Shawn Maldonado 4-1 in the Round of 16 and Finland's Tomas Käyhkö 4-2 in the Round of 8.
Alongside Tackett, four other players—Tim Foy Jr., Malaysia's Timmy Tan, England's Dom Barrett, and Ryan Barnes—have also qualified for the PBA Pete Weber Missouri Classic finals.
After finishing third in last week’s PBA Illinois Classic and making it to the PBA Roth/Holman Doubles Championship with Kevin McCune, No. 2 seed Tim Foy Jr. qualified third for match play. The 37-year-old then defeated Tom Daugherty 4-1 and Andrew Anderson 4-0 to reach his third consecutive championship round.
Malaysia's Timmy Tan made the show through the pre-tournament qualifier. In qualification, Tan averaged over 218 to qualify 12th for match play, then took down AJ Chapman 4-3, Kevin McCune 4-2, and Kyle Troup 4-3 to earn the No. 3 seed.
No. 4 seed Dom Barrett qualified 23rd, making the cut by 5 pins, but then defeated Richard Teece 4-3, Bill O'Neill 4-2, and Ryan Barnes 4-1 in match play to earn his spot in the stepladder finals. Despite his defeat, Barnes secured the No. 5 seed as the highest eliminated qualifier.
