Retired Detroit Athletic Club Bowling Director Tom Reaume and former college bowling coach Shawn Wochner have joined the International Bowling Media Association Board of Directors while Brian Hirsch of Salem, Wisconsin, was chosen as vice president after email voting following the IBMA Annual Meeting in Nashville, Tennessee.
The same balloting re-elected Mark Miller of Flower Mound, Texas, as president and Bill Zuben of Largo, Florida, as sergeant-at-arms. All began their new terms Aug. 1.
Also re-elected to the board were Sam Vasta, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and George Wooten, Columbus, Ohio, bringing the board back to its full 11 members after the resignations of Vice Presidents Kevin Hong and Phil Brylow. A proposal to reduce the size of the board to nine members was tabled.
The annual meeting included discussion on implementing the organization’s rebranding plan focused on story telling that began in late April with the My Bowling Story initiative introduced at the United States Bowling Congress Convention in Reno, Nevada.
Through this initiative, the IBMA aims to become a clearinghouse for bowling stories that often remain within the communities where they originate and go untold beyond them. The effort is intended to help share the many compelling stories from across the sport with broader audiences.
