Randy Pedersen, PBA Champion and Commentator, Dies at 64

Devastating news has reached the bowling community - Randy Pedersen, the 13-time PBA Tour champion and longtime bowling commentator, has passed away. He was 64.

For decades, Randy gave fans reasons to keep watching bowling on TV, first through his own performances and later from the ESPN and FOX Sports commentary booth.

He knew what it felt like to stand on the approach with a title on the line, and he brought that understanding to every broadcast. His humour, honesty and love for bowling helped a generation of viewers feel closer to the game and the people playing it.

A Championship Career

Pedersen won his first PBA Tour title at the 1986 AC-Delco Classic and captured his only major at the 1987 PBA National Championship. His 13th and final PBA Tour victory came at the 2002 Pepsi Open.

He later added a PBA50 title, winning the 2013 Dayton Classic on his debut on the senior circuit. His competitive achievements earned him induction into the PBA Hall of Fame in 2011, followed by the USBC Hall of Fame in 2025.

Bowling's Voice

Beyond his playing career, Pedersen became a regular presence on PBA broadcasts, working for ESPN, FOX and CBS Sports Network. He served as the tour’s regular television analyst through the 2025 season, before its move to The CW Network in 2026. He later returned to the commentary booth with BowlTV.
