Rafiq Ismail Wins Third Malaysian International Open Title

Rafiq Ismail won the Malaysian International Open title at Sunway Megalanes on Sunday, adding another major home victory to his career.

The Malaysian national team bowler defeated Chong Jun Foo in the men’s final and earnd RM50,000 first prize.

Rafiq entered the final as the top seed after leading the men’s standings and had to be beaten twice in the final. Chong won the first game 227-186 and forced a deciding game. Rafiq responded in the second game and won 255-225 to secure the title.

The win marked Rafiq’s third Malaysian International Open title. He had previously won the event in 2016 and 2023.

The women’s title went to 17-year-old Qurratu’ain Izdihar Mohd Pozi, who defeated Adania Redzwan in an all-Malaysian final.

Qurratu’ain lost the opening game 232-145, but came back to win the deciding game 226-185. The victory gave her the RM30,000 top prize.
