Connor Breaman and Kip Roberts won the South Region’s first PBA ELITE event on Sunday, September 20, while Dallas Leong and Blaine Weninger took the Northwest titles.
At Rocky Mount Bowling Center, Breaman posted a 6–2 match-play record to finish ahead of Alex Glinski and collect $8,500. It was his third regional title. Breaman also earned an invitation to December’s PBA Regional Players Invitational, but another commitment will keep him away.
“I can’t be at the RPI since I have my wedding the same weekend,” he told PBA.com.
Roberts won $5,000 ahead of Mark Tarkington in the Senior division.
At Westy’s Garden Lanes in Garden City, Idaho, Dallas Leong beat Nickolaus Freiberg 255–188 in the last match-play game to secure his fourth regional title and $7,500. The Northwest event was played on a 48-foot oil pattern.
Weninger won the Senior division, claiming his 11th regional title.
Both events featured separate Standard and Senior divisions, with champions decided after seven qualifying games, four advancers-round games and eight games of round-robin match play.
The PBA ELITE Regional Tour continues the following weekend with events at FireLake Bowling Center in Shawnee, Oklahoma, and Buena Lanes in Ventura, California, scheduled for September 25–27.
