The Funbowling Tartu Open 2024 concluded on Sunday at the Tartu Funbowling Hall in Estonia. This event, gathered 64 bowlers from three countries: Estonia, Finland, and Latvia. The lineup included 44 men and 16 women, representing various divisions.
This year's competition was held under the updated PBA urethane ball regulations. Only urethane balls with a hardness of no less than 78HD were permitted.
While the bowlers contended with a demanding oil pattern—Kegel's '2023 SYC Nevada No. 2 – LONG,' extending 43 feet and holding 27mL of oil—they still achieved high scores, with an average of 195.11 across the tournament.
In qualification, Lauri Raadik from Estonia led the pack with a standout 1490 pins (248.33 avg.). His performance earned him a free entry to the upcoming Storm 3rd No Urethane Open, set to take place in Finland in April.
During the tournament, three perfect 300 games were achieved by Kert Isakar, Jussi Laine, and Robin Miklas. Isakar, who scored the first 300 on the competition’s second day, won a Storm Phaze AI ball for his accomplishment.
In the first stepladder match, Roni Leskinen, the third seed, took down fourth-seed Maarek Lee with a solid 268-179 win. But in the next round, he faced Finland's Jussi Laine, who ultimately claimed the title, and lost 195-236. The final showdown between Jussi Laine and Robin Miklas was a nail-biter right up to the last frame, but Laine, the second seed, clinched the win with a narrow 249-245 finish.
Laine earned 1100 euro prize for his first place finish.
