The documentary follows five professional bowlers as they compete on the PBA Tour - Kyle Troup, Anthony Simonsen, EJ Tackett, Cameron Crowe, and Jason Belmonte. The series documents their pursuit of titles, recognition, and prize money throughout the PBA Tour season.

Born to Bowl is produced by HBO in association with A24, Red Hour Films, Mike Tollin Productions, Lucky Strike Entertainment, and Blue Pixel. The series is directed by James Lee Hernandez and Brian Lazarte.

One of the executive producers is a well known actor and director Ben Stiller. Stiller attended the PBA Tournament of Champions last year and has been connected to the project as part of the production team.
