Match Play Round 2 is complete at the 2026 U.S. Open in Indianapolis, and Anthony Simonsen remains in front with one round left before the stepladder is decided.
Simonsen posted another 5-3 match play record and increased his total to 11,079 pins after 48 games. He now holds a 108-pin lead over second place. His steady scoring throughout the block allowed him to maintain control despite pressure from several challengers.
Patrick Dombrowski delivered one of the strongest sessions of the round. He went 6-2 and climbed into second place with 10,971. Chris Via follows closely in third with 10,965 after another consistent block.
Andrew Anderson sits fourth with 10,952, while Tim Foy Jr. rounds out the top five at 10,934. Only 37 pins separate second from fifth, keeping the race tight heading into the final round.
Jason Belmonte rolled a perfect 300 game during Round 2 and now stands twelfth with 10,685. Dom Barrett also recorded a 300 and moved to fourteenth with 10,662. Both remain within striking distance with 16 games still to bowl.
Tomas Kayhko is sixth with 10,920. AJ Johnson holds seventh at 10,886. Tun Hakim continues his strong week in eighth with 10,852. Ethan Fiore sits ninth at 10,847, and Terrance Rock II completes the top ten with 10,793.
With 480 bonus pins still available in the final round, positions remain far from settled.
Match Play concludes Saturday evening at 5 p.m. local time in Indianapolis. After 56 total games, the top five players will advance to Sunday’s stepladder finals, which will air live on The CW.
